H Energy, Peak Energy Korea Partner for RE100 Rooftop Solar

H Energy and Peak Energy Korea signed an MOU on October 13, 2026, to jointly develop small-scale rooftop solar projects for corporate RE100 compliance. H Energy will manage development and operations, while Peak Energy Korea will invest capital and own the assets.

Our take

Is rooftop solar for RE100 buyers an investable route for foreign capital in Korea?

It is becoming one, but this deal does not yet prove it: a global infrastructure investor's Korean platform will fund and own small rooftop plants that a local developer sources, builds and operates, yet the memorandum of understanding discloses no volume, investment amount or offtake.

In favour: the barrier in rooftop solar is repeated site work on every roof, and the developer standardises screening, permitting documents, equipment and maintenance, while the investor holds the plants in special purpose companies. Against: an MOU commits neither side to volumes, and the article does not say how the power will reach RE100 buyers. What decides it is whether contracted RE100 offtake follows; until then it is a sourcing channel, not a portfolio.

What the source says
  • H Energy is responsible for identifying idle rooftops, securing lease agreements, handling permits, constructing power plants, conducting completion inspections, and managing operations and maintenance.
  • Peak Energy Korea invests the project costs and establishes Special Purpose Companies (SPCs) to own the power plants.
  • Ham Il-han Ham Il-han, CEO of H Energy, stated that transforming scattered small rooftops nationwide into large-scale renewable energy resources requires platform-based repetitive processing of numerous development tasks.
  • Ham Il-han Ham Il-han aims to combine Peak Energy's capital and renewable energy asset operation capabilities to convert distributed rooftops into generation assets usable for corporate RE100 compliance.
  • H Energy utilizes its 'Solar Share' rooftop leasing platform and an AI agent named 'Helios' to assess rooftop project viability, analyzing satellite and spatial information for module placement and estimated generation.
  • H Energy provides 'Solar Kit,' which standardizes module, inverter, and structural specifications, bundling design and material procurement for construction companies.
  • Post-completion, H Energy uses 'Solar On Care' to analyze generation and equipment status, with the 'DERlink' network of contractors and safety managers performing field inspections and repairs.
  • Building owners with idle factory or warehouse rooftops can apply to lease their roofs through the 'Solar Share' platform.
  • H Energy previously connected individual investor funds to rooftop solar projects through its 'Mohet' platform.

For investors — Infrastructure funds: note the model, a local developer as originator and operator and the foreign investor as owner through special purpose companies; judge it on the capacity actually built and the offtake contracts, neither of which is disclosed.

Corporate buyers: the stated aim is supply for RE100 compliance, but how the power will be sold to buyers is not described.

Watch: Monitoring the expansion of H Energy's standardized rooftop solar development platform and the volume of global capital deployed through partnerships like this.
